Son, Father In Wheelchair Killed Crossing Clearwater Street

A father and son were killed Friday evening when an SUV struck them while they were crossing Court Street.

CLEARWATER, FL — A father and son were killed Friday evening when an SUV struck them while they were crossing Court Street, according to the Clearwater Police Department.

The crash took place just before 7:30 p.m. as the father and son attempted to cross Court Street east of South Missouri Avenue.

Christopher Pryor, 37, was pushing his 59-year-old father George Pryor in a wheelchair while the father was pushing a shopping cart, police said. They were not in a crosswalk or at a traffic signal at the time.

The two men were struck by a Cadillac SUV driven by a 52-year-old Tampa woman.

Both men were taken to Morton Plant Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The driver, whose name was not released by police, remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with investigators.
