Safety Harbor Man Charged With DUI Manslaughter, Vehicular Homicide Following Crash

A Safety Harbor man has been charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide following a crash Thursday night that killed a passenger.

CLEARWATER, FL — A Safety Harbor man has been charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide following a crash Thursday night that killed his passenger.

According to Clearwater police, at 10:29 p.m., Norman Winston, 32, was driving a 2010 Volkswagen north at a high speed on Bayshore Boulevard near San Mateo Street when he lost control of the car and crashed into some trees.

A 42-year-old man in the car was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital where he died. His name has not been released. Another passenger, a 33-year-old man, was treated at Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg and released.

Police said, less than a year ago, Winston was arrested on another DUI charge. His license had been revoked and he was not allowed to drive.
