Sailboat Struck By Lighning, $40,000 In Damage

Clearwater Fire & Rescue personnel responded to a call about a boat fire at 5:10 Wednesday at 223 Dolphin Point on Island Estates.

CLEARWATER, FL -- Clearwater Fire & Rescue personnel responded to a call about a boat fire at 5:10 Wednesday at 223 Dolphin Point on Island Estates.

The preliminary investigation shows that the 35-foot-long sailboat docked there was struck by lightning and then caught fire. No injuries were reported. Damage to the sailboat is estimated at $40,000.
