Get Your Geek On

Sci-Con takes over the Tampa Convention Center Friday through Sunday. The event features both science and fiction with such draws as “Battlestar Galactica’s” Richard Hatch and NASA astronaut Story Musgrave planning to attend. Practice Your Scream

Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream opens for its Freaky Preview weekend Friday with a return appearance Saturday. This year’s theme is Cursed and features eight haunted houses, including the “Basement” and “Zombie Containment Unit 15.” For more details and ticket information, visit Busch Gardens online.

Get Spooked at the Zoo

Lowry Park Zoo is putting a wild spin on Halloween fun with the opening of ZooBoo this weekend. The annual event boasts plenty of terrors for the adults and some fun just right for the little ones, including games, rides and more. For hours and ticket prices, visit Lowry Park’s website.

Nosh on Lobster

The Palm Harbor Lobster Festival runs Friday through Sunday at the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary, 4600 Alt. U.S. 19. In addition to tasty fare, the festival features live entertainment, opportunities to tour the sanctuary, vendors and more. Check out the event online for ticket information.

Walk for Autism Awareness

The first ever Flip-Flop Autism Awareness Walk is set for Saturday at Sarasota’s JD Hammel Park, 2 Marina Plaza. The cost to participate is $20 a walker. For full details, check out the event’s website.
