Sebastian Valle Knocks in Winning Run in Tenth

Sebastian Valle made his only hit of the night the most important in the Threshers 5-4 victory over the St. Lucie Mets.

Leandro Castro lead off the 10th inning with a single and two outs later Valle delivered his game winning single.

Castro, 21, is a favorite among many in the Phillies organization. The native of the Dominican Republic had two hits Friday including his second homerun of the season. Castro is on fire in his last ten games batting .356.

The Threshers have a great opportunity to make up much needed ground on the first place Daytona Cubs when they continue their home stand with a three game series against the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Clearwater has defeated Dunedin six out of seven games this season. They trail the North Division leading Daytona Cubs by five games. The Cubs just completed a four game series with the Charlotte Stone Crabs in which they lost three of four. First pitch at Bright House Field Saturday is 6:30 p.m.

Notes - No hitters are few and far between in any level of ball including the FSL. This year Jarred Cosart of the Clearwater Threshers lost his no-hit bid in the seventh. Joe Kelly of the Palm Beach Cardinals  took two no-hitters into the eighth but couldn't close the deal. Kyle McPherson of Bradenton is the most recent to have his no hitter escape him. Sean McGraw of the Brevard County Manatees homered to ruin his bid with one out in the ninth.
