Police Investigate 3 Crashes On Courtney Campbell, 1 Fatal
Clearwater police are investigating three serious accidents that took place within a 24-hour period on the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater police are investigating three serious accidents that took place within a 24-hour period on the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
A motorcyclist has died following an accident on the Courtney Campbell Causeway Thursday night. According to Clearwater Police, the 46-year-old man from Valrico died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa from his injuries.
The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes at 11:52 p.m. when the motorcyclist changed lanes and swerved into the path of a car, causing the collision.

No one else was injured.
Clearwater police are also investigating a crash that occurred in the westbound lanes of Courtney Campbell Causeway east of Dr. Kiran Patel Boulevard on Wednesday around 10:20 a.m. involving two tractor-trailer trucks, a pickup truck and five other vehicles.

The driver of a tractor-trailer truck failed to brake in time, hitting the rear of another truck and causing a chain-reaction. Two people were taken to the hospital following the crash and 14 people were treated at the scene.
Police then responded to another crash in the eastbound lanes just east of the earlier crash.
