Sheriff's Volunteer Patrol Unit Is Taking Applications

Members will work alongside deputies in directing traffic, other activities.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications from
citizens who would like to become members of the Sheriff’s Volunteer Patrol Unit. Applications are being accepted until Nov. 30 at the Sheriffs Administration Building at 10750 Ulmerton Road in Largo.

As members of the Sheriff’s Volunteer Patrol, you will have a chance to work side by side with deputy sheriffs and perform a variety of valuable services for our citizens and visitors to Pinellas County.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a citizen of the United States
  • Be at least 25 years old
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Successfully complete a program application
  • Pass a background investigation
  • Complete a Training Academy
  • Should be available to volunteer at least 36 hours per quarter
  • Previous law enforcement experience is not a requirement

The Sheriff’s Volunteer Patrol activities include directing traffic, issuing parking tickets, assisting disabled motorists, participating in community events and numerous other responsibilities.
