The man's former roommate has been missing since December 2013 and is presumed dead.
CLEARWATER, FL — The main suspect in a Clearwater missing person case has died, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Jerry Gaston, 64, died due to health-related concerns on Jan. 20 at Bay Pines VA Hospital. Gaston of 1700 Owen Drive was a suspect in the disappearance of Roberta Rene Cable on Dec. 14, 2013. The 42-year-old woman shared a home with Gaston at the time of her disappearance.
Since the search for Cable began detectives said “Gaston made several inconsistent statements and eventually refused to talk to investigators.” He was eventually named a suspect in the case, the agency wrote in an email to media.
