Taco Tuesday: La Palma
This quaint taqueria serves tacos every which way you can think.
Many of the establishments we've visited for this feature serve a standard selection of tacos - chicken, pork, beef, sausage and lamb - prepared one way, normally in a soft tortilla shell.
But at on East Bay Drive, diners can chose from a wide variety of tacos and taco variants served in a myriad of ways.
La Palma features 11 different soft shell tacos, from the standards to diverse choices like buche (pig “tummy”), cabeza (cow head) and pescado (fish).

I had to try the fish taco, since this is the first place I’ve visited that served one, and I must say it was worth the wait.
While the fish wasn’t any exotic species, just your basic tilapia, there were enough flaky and flavorful slabs inside for it to be satisfying, and the slice of fresh avocado on top was like the icing on the cake.

The soft tacos run $1.50- $1.79 each and can be ordered one of two ways: Authentic Mexican, with cilantro and onions, or Americanized, with cheese, tomatoes, sour cream and lettuce.
For those who prefer their tacos even more Americanized, hard shell versions are available as well. Those come in chicken, beef or chorizo flavors with all the ingredients mentioned above and cost $1.39 apiece.
If you’re looking for more taco variety try La Palma’s taco salad, which is filled with rice, beans, lettuce, chicken and sour cream, or the Tacos De Alambre entrée, which features beef, onions, peppers, bacon and cheese served over three flour tortillas.
Beverages include homemade authentic Mexican fruit smoothies, imported and domestic beers and sodas, and the always tasty Boing fruit drinks.
Top your meal off with a hot caramel-filled churro or some fried ice cream, and I guarantee you will leave La Palma with a full stomach and a smile on your face.
