Tampa Bay Area School District Grades Released

Only one school district in the area pulled off an A grade from the Florida Department of Education.

Tampa Bay, FL — Tampa Bay area schools weren’t the only ones to get their performance grades released by the state on Friday. School districts, as well, were assigned marks based on a number of performance factors.

When all was said and done, only three school districts in the state earned A marks. Sarasota County was one of them. The other two are St. Johns and Okaloosa counties.

The preliminary 2016 grades were based on such factors as student performance on standardized tests, learning gains and graduation rates.

  • Pinellas County – The district maintained its B grade from last year
  • Pasco County – The district’s C grade is a step down from the B received last year
  • Manatee County – The district’s C grade is a step down from the B earned last year.
  • Hillsborough County – The district’s B grade is a step down from the A it received in 2015.

Across the state, no districts received F grades. A few, however, did earn D grades. Those districts are Hamilton and Jefferson counties.
