Teen Charged in Clearwater Murder
The shooting of a Tampa woman occurred Thursday evening.

Clearwater Police have announced the arrest of a 17-year-old boy in the shooting death of a Tampa woman Thursday evening.
According to the police department, an argument between the teen and Daytara Grayson, 37, broke out around 8 p.m. at 1481 Hamlet Ave. The argument took a violent turn, resulting in Grayson being shot. She died at the scene.
Police brought Sean Patel, who lives at the Hamlet Avenue address, into custody about an hour after the shooting. The nature of the relationship between Patel and Grayson is unclear at this time.

The gun used in the shooting, police say, was traced back to a June 11 auto burglary reported in Madeira Beach.
“That aspect of the case is a reminder that people should always lock their vehicles and properly secure their weapons,” an email from the police department stated.

Patel is currently being held in a Pinellas County juvenile detention facility. Police have charged him with first-degree murder, an email from the department stated.
