Teen Indicted in Death of Woman Found Near Pinellas Trail
Police continue to search for more evidence in the case against the teen in the death of Lydia Tross.

While a Pinellas County Grand Jury was indicting 18-year-old Dewayne Xavier Jones in the death of a woman whose body was found near the Pinellas Trail last Saturday, police continued to comb for more evidence in the case.
“Police homicide detectives and other department personnel were out along the Pinellas Trail this morning, searching for evidence in the Lydia Tross murder case,” wrote Clearwater Police spokesman Rob Shaw in an email to media.
About a dozen law enforcement officers searched the area west of the trail after cutting back overgrowth.

Tross, 41, was found by a passerby last Saturday. Jones was charged with first-degree murder Aug. 12, after a family member called police upon finding items that belonged to Tross in the teen’s possession.
