Teen Sought in Beach Graffiti Case

Clearwater Police say the boy defaced property along the Beach Walk.

The Clearwater Police Department is on the hunt for a teenage boy it says is responsible for a rash of graffiti in the beach area.

According to the agency, the teen, and a group of about five other kids, spray painted obscene images and words along the Barefoot Beach House and Beach Walk. The boy is also accused of doing the same on “No Skateboarding” signs and at the South Gulfview Boulevard crosswalk near the Hyatt.

The painting spree, police wrote in an email, began around 2:40 a.m. Thursday.

“A surveillance camera from the Barefoot Beach House captured the suspect carrying what is believed to be a spray paint can,” the email said.

While much of the graffiti has already been covered, police would very much like to speak to the teen they believe is responsible. The boy is described as being about 14-year-old. He stands about 5 feet, 8 inches and has a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, khaki pants, reading glasses and a white Chicago Bulls hat.
