Threshers Bats Come Alive and Defeat Dunedin 11-5

The Clearwater Threshers slammed the Dunedin Blue Jays 11 - 5 Saturday (June 4).

The victory, their fifth in the past six games, brought them to within three games of the North Division leading Daytona Cubs.

After trailing 4-0, the Threshers scored eight runs in the fifth inning, sending 12 batters to the plate. A double, five singles, a walk, two Jay errors and Clearwater had an 8-4 lead.

Threshers had 13 hits on the night with every starter except Joe Savery getting at least one.

Julio Rodriguez (7-3), worked five solid innings, throwing a great deal of curve balls and change-ups keeping Blue Jays hitters guessing. His problem was getting these pitches in the strike zone. Three of the five walks he gave up scored on a Brad Glenn home-run (15) and a two run double by second basemen Ivan Contreras.
