Threshers Blow Six Run Lead In Daytona
Threshers pitching has an off night in a 9-6 loss to the Cubs.
The Clearwater Threshers opened up a six run lead Saturday (June 10) but the Daytona Cubs storm back and beat them 9-6.
In game one of a huge three game series, the Threshers (38-24), looked like they would cut the Cubs (43-19) lead to three games.
The comeback started in the third when the Cubs plated three runs on four singles and a two run homer by Logan Watkins, his first of the year. This all came off starter Jonathan Pettibone.

In the sixth the Cubs sent eight men to the plate against reliever Ebelin Lugo and six scored, including a two run homer by Justin Bour (16). All the scoring came with two outs.
The Threshers finished with 11 hits but only two of them came after the third.

Unfortunately for the Threshers, All-Star catcher Sebastian Valle is back on the disabled list.
The two teams continue this crucial series Sunday (June 12) in Daytona. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m.
