Threshers Extend Streak To 4 Games

The Clearwater Threshers made it four in a row and eight of their last ten defeating the Lakeland Flying Tigers 4-3 Sunday (Aug. 28).
Journeyman catcher Torre Langley hit a bases loaded, two-out single in the bottom of the tenth to break the tie.
The 23 year-old Cobb, Ga. native came on as a replacement for catcher Sebastian Valle after the All Star grounded out in the eighth.

Langley was signed as a free agent by the Phillies in 2010 after playing in the Florida Marlins organization since being drafted in 2006.
Clearwater managed only six hits on the day but two of them were solo homers by Darin Ruf and Cyle Hankerd.

For Ruf, it was his 17th of the season. The first baseman certainly will be in the running for the Florida State League player of the year honors.
The first baseman leads the league in doubles, is second in hits and RBIs, and fourth in batting average.
Hankerd's solo homer comes after his back-to-back round trippers on Saturday.
On Deck: The Threshers go for their fifth straight on Monday (Aug. 29) against the same Lakeland Flying Tigers. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Jonathan Pettibone coming off a brilliant seven innings of three hit ball, will look for win number 10.
