Threshers Fall To D-Jays In Series Opener

Florida State League strikeout leader Trevor May takes the mound for game two Wednesday.

Clearwater Threshers starting pitcher David Buchanan fell victim to the long ball Tuesday (Aug. 16) evening and it cost the Threshers a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Buchanan, 22, from Atlanta, allowed only six hits through five innings but three were homers producing all four Jays runs.

His teammates had plenty of opportunities to pick him up but fell short leaving nine runners on base.

After the Jays had built a three run lead, the Threshers got one back in the bottom of the third. However, they left the bases loaded with only one out.

What made this inning more disturbing is that Jiwan James was thrown out trying to steal second after a lead off single. The following four batters would reach base on three hard hits and a walk but only one runner would cross home plate.
