Threshers Go Back To Back To Back In Victory
David Buchanan, backed by five solo homers, gets his first Florida State League win, 10-3 over the Yankees.
The Clearwater Threshers Brandon Tripp, Cyle Hankerd and Travis Mattair went back to back to back in the fourth inning to support the efforts of their newest pitcher David Buchanan in a 10-3 win on Tuesday (Aug. 2).
Jeremy Barnes solo homer in the first and Darin Ruf's 13th of the season, also in the fourth, built a 5-1 lead through five innings.
For Tripp and Hankred it is their first homers of the season. Tripp is in his 12th game and Hankred homered in first appearance with the Threshers after arriving from the Independent Leagues Amarillo Sox.

Buchanan, 22, completed six innings allowing three runs on seven hits. He was originally drafted by the Mets in 2009 but they did not sign him. The Phillies selected the Atlanta, Ga. native in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Georgia State University and were able to sign him.
On Deck: The Threshers and Yankees are off Wednesday. They resume the series at 7 p.m. Thursday (August 4).

The Threshers trail the Yankees by a game and are a 1/2 game behind second place Dunedin Blue Jays.
With the win Tuesday the Threshers have now won 11 of their past 13 home games.
Need to Know: Witer Jimenez (1), Brian Pointer (3) and Matt Holland (3) all homered for the GC Phillies in a 6-5 victory over the GC Pirates.
