Threshers Pound Out 18 Hits In Victory

Six starters have multi-hit games in defeating the Brevard County Manatees 11-4.

A little change to the line-up made a big difference on the score sheet, as the Threshers beat up the Manatees winning 11-5 Wednesday (July 6).

D'Arby Myers returned from the disabled list, playing right field and contributing offensively with three singles and a walk.

Jonathan Singleton returned to left-field and Darin Ruf was back at first base. Sebastian Valle was given the night off behind the plate, being replaced by John Suomi. Valle went 2 for 5 with two RBI's and two runs, batting as the DH. Suomi hit his first round tripper of the season.

Jeremy Barnes had three RBI's on a pair of singles.

This kind of run production is what is expected from a talented team like the Threshers. When a club has major league prospects at catcher, first-base, second base and two outfield positions, viewers expect hitting like Wednesday, to be the rule and not the exception.

On Deck: The Threshers (6-8) and Manatees (6-6) complete their four game series Thursday (July 7) in Brevard County. Clearwater will return home Friday (July 8), hosting the Jupiter Hammerheads (Marlins).

Need to know: The Gulf Coast Phillies lost in extra innings to the Gulf Coast Yankees, 9-8. Drew Hillman lead the GC Phillies attack, with three hits, including two doubles and a stolen base. Hillman was an 18th round draft pick by the Phillies in 2011, from UC Irvine.
