Threshers Stymied By D-Jay Bull Pen

The Clearwater Threshers faced a parade of five D-Jay relief pitchers losing 6-2 on Saturday (Sept. 3).

Clearwater managed just five hits off the Jays bullpen who are saving their starters for the week ahead playoffs.

Seldom used left-fielder D'Arby Myers picked up a pair of singles in the losing effort.

Jonathan Pettibone started for the Threshers but was pulled after just two innings, however the 21 year old still suffered the loss allowing a lone run on four hits.

Pettibone along with fellow starters Julio Rodriguez and Trevor May have had sensational 2011 seasons in the Florida State League.

More than likely all three will be promoted to Double A Reading for the 2012 year if not sooner depending on whether Reading reaches the playoffs or not.

On Deck: The Threshers will host Dunedin in the final regular season game at Bright House Field, Sunday (Sept. 4). First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

All-Star pitcher Julio Rodriguez is the probable starter, looking for win number 17 on the year.
