Threshers Swept By St. Lucie Mets
Mets score two in sixth off Jonathan Pettibone and two in seventh off Juan Sosa on way to a 5-2 victory.
A 5-2 defeat on Wednesday (July 20) in Port St. Lucie ended a road trip that saw the Threshers win one of eight and fall to five games below .500.
Starter Jonathan Pettibone looked for five innings as if he would be the one to steer the ship in the right direction. However, the middle of the Mets order, seeing him for the third time, banged out three singles and a double. The four hits produced two runs and the Threshers offense was unable to respond.
NY Mets, David Wright had a fantastic series against the young Clearwater pitchers.

Rehabbing a stress fracture in his lower back, Wright continued to swing a hot bat on Wednesday. The 28 year old walked in the first, singled in the fourth, singled in sixth, and walked again in the seventh. He is batting .476 in his six games versus Florida State League pitching.
Some positive signs for the Threshers were multi-hit games by three different players. Lead-off hitter Jiwan James lead the way with a 3-4 night, including an RBI and a run scored.
