Threshers Throw Game Away In Tampa
Brody Colvin exhibits his talents in Clearwater loss to Yankees, 4-3.

Threshers' Manager, Dusty Wathan, could not be faulted for his clubs defeat Thursday (June 9), 4-3 to the Tampa Yankees.
Wathan, in his second season with the Threshers (37-23), took all the necessary steps to have his closer Justin Friend finish off the game. However, two errant throws by shortstop Troy Hanzawa and first basemen Jonathan Singleton on the same play, yielded the tying runs.
Friend, 24, who has eighteen saves on the season, gave up the go ahead RBI single to the next batter Taylor Grote.

Much like the Major League Phillies, the Threshers have a strong starting pitching staff. It was twenty year old Brody Colvin's chance to shine Thursday in Tampa and he did not disappoint.
Five complete innings, giving up just the one run. The only run the Yankees (31-29) managed to score off Colvin came in the first inning on one of only two hits he would give up on the night.

The run resulted from a lead off walk and the fourth stolen base by the Yankees in the past two games against the Threshers. The Yankees stole three bases Tuesday on Thresher catcher Sebastian Valle, tonight the base was stolen on Valle's replacement Kyle Lafrenz.
The Lakeland Flying Tigers played spoilers Thursday, upending the North Division leading Daytona Cubs, 4-3 in eleven innings. Clearwater remains five games back of the Cubs.
On deck: The two teams will meet again at 7 p.m. Friday (June 10) in Tampa.
