Victims Identified in Largo Pedestrian Crash

A Clearwater woman and Pinellas Park man were killed in the Saturday crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the two people who died in a Saturday crash on 66th Street North at 126th Avenue North.

Connie Lynn Carreira, 55, of Clearwater and Robert Wayne Edmonds, 50, of Pinellas Park both died when they were struck by a 1999 Isuzu SUV driven by Lonnie Ray Baumbach, 65, of Largo.

Troopers say the accident happened around 7:42 p.m. as Baumbach was heading northbound in the center lane of 66th Street North. He crossed through the intersection at 126th Avenue North under a green light. The two pedestrians were walking westbound on the south side of the intersection at the time under a red pedestrian signal.

Carreira and Edmonds walked into the path of Baumbach’s SUV, trooper say. Both died at the scene of the crash.

No charges are anticipated in the case.
