Yankees' Romanski Shuts Down Thresher Bats
Mascots get loudest applause of the night as Yankees defeat Clearwater 6-0.

The Tampa Yankees shut-out the Clearwater Threshers Tuesday (June 7), 6-0.
The baseball highlights were few and far between with the largest applause of the night coming for Phinley and his fellow mascots.
Josh Romanski was the most responsible for the quiet night. The 24 year old left-hander, shut the Threshers out for six innings limiting them to just three hits.

Romanski's arrival in pinstripes is an interesting one. He first was drafted by the San Diego Padres in 2005 but chose to go to the University of San Diego.
After three successful seasons playing for the Toreros, he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers. Before the California native threw a pitch for the Brewers he had Tommy John surgery.

The Brewers surprisingly released him soon after the surgery and the Yankees wasted no time in signing him to a Minor League contract. Romanski could be an unexpected gift for the Yankees.
Clearwater uncharacteristically committed four errors on the night and a fifth was not recorded when third basemen Jeremy Barnes dropped a pop-up in foul territory.
Jiwan James and D'Arby Myers both misplayed easy ground balls in the outfield allowing Yankee runners to advance an extra base. All-Star catcher Sebastian Valle over-threw second base by ten feet on an attempted steal, and sure handed short-stop Troy Hanzawa, was handcuffed on a one hopper.
One deck: The Threshers have Wednesday off before beginning their important eight game road trip starting in Tampa. After two games in Tampa they travel to Daytona for three. With Tuesday nights loss, Clearwater now trails the Cubs by 51/2 games.
