3. Bus route ending? Why beachside could lose crucial Brevard County bus routes (floridatoday.com) — Bus routes that connect Cocoa-area workers with hotel jobs in Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral could be eliminated next year after the state pulled $1.4 million in grant funding. Local hotel leaders and county officials warn that hundreds of lower-wage employees who rely on these buses may lose reliable transportation, worsening traffic on SR 520 and A1A and straining the already tight labor market.
4. Former Brevard attorney pleads guilty to multi-year real estate fraud scheme (orlando-news.com) — A former Brevard County attorney who owned Driftwood Title in Cocoa has pleaded guilty to three federal wire fraud counts tied to a multi-year real estate scheme. Prosecutors say he misled lenders, failed to record mortgages, and diverted payoff funds, netting hundreds of thousands of dollars. He now faces up to 20 years in prison on each count, with sentencing set for December 2.
