1. Coral Gables businessman, Telemundo exec among several Florida residents killed in helicopter crash in northern Kenya (wsvn.com) — Coral Gables residents are mourning after a helicopter crash in northern Kenya killed local businessman Roger Duarte, founder of George Stone Crabs, and spouses Adam Hlavaty and Henry Parra, all from Coral Gables. 2. Pair accused of burglarizing home and occupied business, living in city armored truck (wsvn.com) — Two suspects are accused of a string of southwest Miami-Dade burglaries and of secretly living inside an armored truck owned by the City of Coral Gables. Deputies say they found bedding, belongings and burn marks in the city vehicle at the Coral Gables motor pool, where both suspects were later arrested and now face multiple burglary and theft charges.
3. This Florida pool has caves and waterfalls carved from actual coral rock (wheninyourstate.com) — Coral Gables' Venetian Pool, carved from a historic coral rock quarry, has reopened after a major restoration that preserved its waterfalls, caves, and Mediterranean-style towers. Fed by an underground aquifer and on the National Register of Historic Places, it offers family-friendly depths, sandy lounging areas, and shaded loggias just minutes from local neighborhoods.
4. Lello Arpaia Set the Table for Italian Fine Dining in New York (appetitomagazine.com) — A pioneering New York restaurateur, Raffaele "Lello" Arpaia, spent his final days in Coral Gables, where he died last month at 85.
