Arrest Made in Brazen Coral Gables Bank Robbery

Jorge L. Farah is facing federal charges in connection with Friday's robbery at the Marquis Bank branch.

CORAL GABLES, FL — A Hialeah man was arrested in connection with Friday's brazen afternoon robbery at a Coral Gables bank. Jorge L. Farah is facing federal charges in connection with the robbery at the Marquis Bank branch, 355 Alhambra Circle. Farah allegedly left behind a suspicious device at the bank, forcing an evacuation.

"The robber left a device inside the bank prompting its evacuation," explained Special Agent Michael D. Leverock of the FBI and agency spokesman Jim Marshall. (Sign up for our free Daily Newsletters and Breaking News Alerts for the Coral Gables-Coconut Grove Patch.)

The device was subsequently removed and determined safe. The FBI did not release any details with respect to the device.

"Farah is facing federal charges and is expected to make his initial appearance in federal court in Miami," Leverock and Marshall said.

No one was injured in the robbery.

The Coral Gables and Hialeah Police Departments assisted the FBI in the investigation along with the South Florida Violent Crime Task Force.
