Brazen Thief Chases Victim in Broad Daylight

A brazen thief hopped out of a white BMW in broad daylight and pointed a handgun at a Coral Gables resident who was carrying jewelry.

CORAL GABLES, FL — Police are asking for the public's help in finding a brazen thief who hopped out of a white BMW in broad daylight and pointed a handgun at a Coral Gables resident who was carrying a bag that contained jewelry outside his home on Ingram Highway. The incident occurred shortly before noon on Saturday when the car pulled up to the bottom of the man's driveway. The thief escaped with an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

"The victim ran away from the subject dropping a bag containing an undisclosed amount of jewelry with the subject running after him," Officer Kelly Denham of the Coral Gables Police Department told Patch on Monday. "The subject picked up the bag containing the jewelry and returned to the BMW where the unknown driver fled the scene." Denham said that the incident occurred as the victim was arriving at his home in the 4000 block of Ingram Highway. The thief was riding in the passenger side of a late model BMW 4 Series.

Police released a surveillance image of the suspect on Monday. He was described as African-American, 160 to 170 pounds, 17 to 25 years of age with dreadlocks in a bun. Police said the suspect had a thin build. He was last seen wearing a gray T-Shirt and dark gray jeans.
