Coral Gables Fire Assists To Control Wildfire In Collier County
Despite the pandemic, the Coral Gables Fire Rescue Department assisted a neighboring fire department in fighting a massive forestry fire.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, the Coral Gables Fire Rescue Department assisted a neighboring fire department in fighting a massive forestry fire. On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, the Coral Gables Fire Department assisted with firefighting operations to control a wildfire along Alligator Alley in Collier County as part of a team comprised of fire departments from Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Coral Gables Fire Rescue personnel served as the commanders of Strike Teams that responded from both counties. The brush fire had already affected over 4,000 acres and units on scene requested help controlling the fire that had already destroyed several homes and were threatening an entire neighborhood near Cape Coral.
The team was deployed for several days until the wildfire was contained.
