Coral Gables Police Want to Know If Residents Are Satisfied
The city is asking residents to submit their opinions by phone, in person, online or by mail.

CORAL GABLES, FL — The Coral Gables police department wants to know if residents are satisfied with their police service. The city is inviting residents to submit their opinions by phone, in person, online or by regular mail. The feedback will be used by an team from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies to assess the department.

"This team will verify that the Coral Gables Police Department meets CALEA’s state-of-the-art standards as part of a voluntary process to gain reaccreditation —a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence," according to Coral Gables police.

The public can deliver comments in person on Monday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. The meeting will take place in the department's Community Meeting Room at 2801 Salzedo St.

Residents can also provide their comments by telephone at 305-460-5557 on Aug. 14, from 1-3 p.m. "All comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the department’s ability to comply with CALEA standards," Coral Gables police said. The standards are available for public review at the Coral Gables Police Department Public Information Office. For more information, contact Officer Kelly Denham at 305-460-5403.
"The on-site assessment team for the Coral Gables Police Department is composed of law enforcement practitioners from similar, but out-of-state law enforcement agencies," officials explained. Team members include Capt. Michael Pheil of the LaGrange Police Department in Georgia and Lt. Darrin Abbink of the Colorado Springs Police Department in Colorado.
"They will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit offices and other locations where compliance can be witnessed," Coral Gables police explained.
