Million Orchid Project Underway In Coral Gables
To encourage resident participation, the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is distributing free orchids during the weekly Farmers Market.

The City of Coral Gables has been working with Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden on their Million Orchid Project. The project aims to reintroduce native orchids to Coral Gables’ lush canopy. Since 2016, more than 47,000 orchids have been planted throughout the City. The program has been extended with the goal of planting 250,000 orchids within the next 10 years which will help enhance the natural beauty of Coral Gables, especially when the plants are in full bloom.

To encourage resident participation, Fairchild is distributing orchids free of charge during the weekly Farmers Market. The Farmers Market sets up on Merrick Way in front of City Hall and is open every Saturday through March 27. U
