Update on Reopening of Economy
The City of Coral Gables continues the reopening of the local economy through the safe, responsible and strategic opening of specific businesses, with strict guidelines. Effective Monday, June 8th, banquet halls, gyms, fitness centers, summer camps, youth activities, and massage parlors/studios will be allowed to reopen, with restrictions. Movie theaters, concert houses, auditoriums, playhouses, indoor amusement facilities, among other establishments must submit a reopening plan to Miami-Dade County for approval before opening to the public.
All establishments are required to maintain health protocols to protect the health and safety of employees and patrons by adhering to the standards outlined in the Miami-Dade County handbook titled The New Normal.

Summer P.L.A.Y. Care at the Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center
This year, the City’s Summer Camp program will look more like Summer Care with a social distancing twist, beginning June 15th.

We are excited to provide you with summer care that will focus on the highest safety standards through the use of small “cohorted” groups.

A “cohorted” group will consist of the same 8 campers and two staff members for a four-week session to minimize outside contact and allow participants to move freely without the use of a face covering within the group. Outside of the “cohorted” group the use of face coverings and physical distancing will be strictly enforced.

While there will be no field trips this summer, staff will focus on bringing experiences into the classroom and as much outdoor time as the weather allows!

Fourth of July Celebration
After much thought and based on the current regulations, the City of Coral Gables has cancelled its July Fourth Fireworks Celebration. We look forward to celebrating as a community in 2021.
