Over five years, typical monthly bills and new-connection fees will climb significantly to help pay for new treatment equipment, expanded capacity, and replacement of aging pipes and plants.
• Whimsical clay artist named by West Volusia Artists as the October Artist of the Month (beacononlinenews.com) — A DeLand clay artist known for whimsical "Fae" figures has been named West Volusia Artists' October Artist of the Month, with his work now on display at ArtWorks in Downtown DeLand. Local artists of all levels are invited to join the West Volusia Artists club, which meets twice monthly at the Wayne G. Sanborn Activity Center to share demos, outings, and creative support.
• Volusia Animal Shelter Celebrating 1 Year with Waived Adoption Fees (newsdaytonabeach.com) — DeLand pet lovers can adopt animals with no fees October 1–3 as the Volusia County Animal Shelter on East International Speedway Boulevard celebrates its first year in operation. The county-run facility, which serves DeLand and surrounding areas, has already helped hundreds of animals find homes, reunite with owners, or receive safe shelter during cruelty investigations and family crises.
