Additional Pinellas County Mask Distribution Sites Announced

The newest sites are in St. Petersburg and Seminole.

June 25, 2020

As Pinellas County remains under an ordinance requiring citizens to wear face coverings while in public, additional distribution sites in St. Petersburg and Seminole will be available to supply masks to those who need them. The ordinance took effect Wednesday and requires all employees at public establishments and their customers to wear face coverings while indoors. It is part of the County’ efforts to slow a recent, rapid spike in COVID-19 cases in the community.

Pinellas County Ordinance 20-14 defines a face covering as a material that covers the nose and mouth and remains affixed or a face shield. A cloth face covering, or mask, may be factory-made or sewn by hand and can be improvised from clothing or other household fabric items. Citizens must wear a face covering while in most indoor public places within Pinellas County; however, there are several exceptions which can be found here.

The Board elected to adopt the emergency order by ordinance to allow it to be enforced as a non-criminal local ordinance violation. For more information about the ordinance and the county’s COVID-19 response, please visit the county COVID-19 Resource website.
