DUNEDIN, FL — A small aircraft made an emergency controlled landing midday Sunday in the water off Honeymoon Island in Dunedin, according to authorities.
Deputies responded shortly after 12:30 p.m. to the craft, which had experienced engine problems while airborne, authorities said. Two people on board were able to exit the craft and walk to shore, with no injuries reported, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Footage posted on social media of the scene showed the tail of the aircraft emerging from the water near the beach.
The dive team noticed a small fuel leak into the water, authorities said, adding the scene remained active.
