Created in collaboration with ScotlandShop based in the Scottish borders, the new tartan reflects the history, heritage, and spirit of both Scotland and the Scottish American Society of Dunedin.
The tartan's distinctive purple and green represent the thistle, Scotland's national flower and an important symbol featured in the Society's official logo. Blue and white represent the colors of Scotland's national flag, the Saltire. The overall design draws inspiration from two historic tartans—the World Peace Tartan and the Edinburgh District Tartan—creating a unique pattern that honors Scotland while representing the identity of the SAS of Dunedin and its community.
Founded in 1980, the Scottish American Society of Dunedin is dedicated to celebrating Scottish traditions while preserving and promoting Scottish heritage in the City of Dunedin. The city itself has deep Scottish roots, having been founded in the nineteenth century by two Scots.
Today, the Scottish American Society of Dunedin has grown to more than 700 members and continues to expand its role as a center for Scottish culture and education. They established the Scottish Cultural Center at 917 Louden Avenue, providing a home for a wide variety of cultural programs and activities. The Center offers lessons in Highland dancing, bagpiping, and genealogy, as well as traditional and contemporary Celtic music concerts and other Scottish and Celtic events throughout the year.
The new tartan represents another important milestone in the Society's history, providing members and the broader community with a distinctive symbol of the organization and its enduring connection to Scotland.

Founded in 1980, the Scottish American Society of Dunedin is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and promoting Scottish heritage and traditions in Dunedin, Florida.
