Beach Barbecue Benefits Local Fire Department

The event will help equip the Dunedin Fire Department's new boat.

Tampa Bay area residents are invited to kick up a little sand and party with a purpose at Honeymoon Island.

A barbecue bash to benefit the Dunedin Fire Department is set for Feb. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Honeymoon Island State Park. Tickets are $25 and include park admission, entertainment, food and two drinks, including beer and wine.

Chef Shane Bittaker from Cafe Honeymoon will be on hand, serving up roasted pork, slow-cooked beans, island pineapple coleslaw, mac and cheese, fruit platters and more. The High Surf Band will perform beach music.

Proceeds benefit the department’s efforts to fully equip its new fire/rescue/EMS boat.

Tickets are available by calling Trip or Michelle at the fire administration office, 727-298-3102. The cost for kids under 10 is $10. The event is designed to be family friendly.
