Clearwater Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Dunedin Crash
The accident happened Wednesday evening.

A 59-year-old Clearwater woman suffered life-threatening injuries when her bicycle was struck by a car Wednesday night.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Catherine Ashenfelter was riding her bicycle south on Alternate 19 in the bicycle lane around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday when the crash occurred. Ann Tamboe, 78, was heading north on Alternate 19 in a Chrysler 200. When Tamboe attempted to turn left onto Tradewinds Drive, she struck Ashenfelter.
Deputies say Ashenfelter was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Tamboe was not injured.

Neither speed nor impairment were factors in the crash, investigators say. The crash remains under investigation.
