Settle in while we cover:

  • Ready to get rid of your Christmas tree? We've got the scoop on what to do.
  • Cancellations and delays continue to disrupt travel plans at the Tampa airport.
  • Community input is wanted on the future of Stirling Park.

But first, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 72 Low: 56.

Here are the top stories today in Dunedin:

1) Ready to get rid of your Christmas tree? Pinellas County residents can (and should!) recycle their Christmas trees after the holiday season. Head over to the Pinellas County website to learn where you can drop off your trees to be mulched.

2) Southwest Airlines continues to cancel flights at the Tampa International Airport. As of yesterday, Patch reported that 110 flights both departing and headed to the Tampa airport had been canceled, while another 75 flights were delayed. Reports show that Southwest Airlines' cancellation rate was up to 62%, while other major airlines suffered cancellations between 0% and 2%. Patch has more here on the alarming travel interruptions and what to expect for the remainder of this week.

For our dear neighbors who are traveling this week: I wish you all safe (and sane) journeys to/from home.

3) Zillow dubs Dunedin the most popular retirement town in 2022. Thousands of ZIP codes within the nation's 100 largest metropolitan areas were examined to form the rankings. Zillow attributes the city's popularity to its desirable location on the Gulf Coast and easy access to waterfront parks and country clubs.
