Dunedin, Florida, is extolled in a travel article by a Toronto writer.

"Funky." "Laid back." "Delightful."

Those are some of the descriptions a Canadian travel writer uses to describe his visit to Dunedine, Florida, for an article published in TheStar.com.

The article was posted to the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce website.

Writer Jim Byers of the Toronto Star extols the Florida scenery, the "tidy Main Street" and the friendliness of residents in an article headlined "Dunedin a funky, laid-back mix."

Byers, in fact, seems downright charmed by his visit. He also praised some Dunedin businesses that he visited:

  • Middle Earth Olive Oil company, which sells oils from Spain, Italy, Morocco and, this being an area where Greek immigrants settled for fishing and sponge farming (nearby Tarpon Springs), Greece. They also sell and let you taste a variety of balsamic vinegars, some with chocolate or blueberries or even coconut.
  • Palm Latitudes, where "you’l find bright pink flamingo night lights, silly t-shirts, wind chimes fashioned from glistening sea shells and colourful green, blue and pink signs pointing the way to Aruba, Jamaica and Bermuda and Bahama, just like the Beach Boys sang."
  • Cappucino's Bakery & Cafe, "which sells coffee and also wines by the glass or bottle."
