Easy Win for Nehr in Primary
District 65 State Rep. Peter Nehr said he was ecstatic that he won with more than 53 percent of the vote.
District 65 State Rep. Peter Nehr moved forward in his quest for a fourth term with a solid win against three opponents in Tuesday's Republican primary.
Nehr finished with 53 percent of the vote, followed by challengers Tory Perfetti with 22 percent, Marg Baker with 16 percent and Philip Tropea, who had 7 percent.
"I feel absolutely ecstatic about the results. The results in my opinion were because of the volunteers who helped me out, the people who supported me and also the constituents, who knew my votes in the issues that concerned them," said Nehr.

Family, friends and supporters joined Nehr to watch election results Tuesday evening at in Palm Harbor. The crowd, which filled a private room at the restaurant, cheered loudly when Nehr announced that Florida Governor Rick Scott called to congratulate him.
Now that he's won the primary, Nehr says he is looking ahead to the general election on November 6.

"The challenges in the general election are going to be the differences in philosophy between the Republican party and the Democrat party. We both want to do what's right, it's just that we have different ways of going about it," said Nehr.
Nehr will face Democrat Carl Zimmerman in the general election.
