Eat to the beat...so others may eat
Live music and food trucks in the pumpkin patch support our neighbors in need

St. Andrews Presbyterian Church has been a longtime supporter of the RCS food bank. Over the years, members of the congregation have been encouraged to give through a variety of initiatives and projects. In recent years, church members have supported the food bank through participation in a program called Twelve Baskets. The name Twelve Baskets comes from the biblical account of Jesus’ miraculous feeding of 5000 people with just two fish and five loaves. The Bible says that after everyone had eaten there were twelve baskets of food left over. Inspired by the story, church leaders designated a “basket” for each month of the year and asked members to bring designated items to fill each month’s basket. The project replaced an annual food drive and has helped increase people’s awareness of and contributions to the food bank.
Last year, an event was created to increase the food collection in advance of the holiday months and to share this program with the community. The event was called Eat to the Beat and featured live music by local artists and food trucks for dinner. The event will be held again this year on October 19th in the pumpkin patch on the front lawn of the church. Sound Mind, a cover band from Newport Richey, will be performing, and four food trucks, Thai One On, Little Italy’s Meatballs, Burger Culture and The Inside Scoop will be on site. A spokesperson from RCS will be present to share about the work and needs of the food bank. Guests are asked to bring non-perishable food items for admission to the event.
Event Details: October 19, 4-7:00 pm. 705 Michigan Blvd. Dunedin. Parking in the rear of the church. Contact the church at 727-734-5493 or visit the website at www.sapcd.org.
