The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit is holding another installment of “Operation Medicine Cabinet” -- an opportunity for residents to discard unused or expired prescription drugs safely, with no questions asked.
This multi-agency effort with the Florida Office of the Attorney General, among others, is aimed at addressing prescription-drug abuse and keeping the environment clean. Five previous “Operation Medicine Cabinet” events since 2009 have collected more than 4,300 pounds of medications in Pinellas County.
There will be 13 drop-off sites in the county located in the parking lots of cooperating businesses. Please look for a law-enforcement presence at the site.
