Tampa Bay Sunday Bicyclers: Ride the Pinellas Trail North

The Tampa Bay Sunday Bicyclers invite new riders on this trek today. Just bring your helmet, a full water bottle, a spare tube, and a road-worthy bicycle, of course.

(NOTE: Call the ride leader below for more information if the weather looks iffy.)

Today's ride lasts about 25 to 30 miles, depending on the group. It covers a speed of about 12 to 14mph.

The ride begins promptly at 7:45am, leaving the Dunedin Historical Museum (Old Train Depot) and heading north on the Pinellas Trail through Ozona, Palm Harbor and Crystal Beach to Tarpon Springs, before returning to Dunedin for breakfast.

Riders say the route is scenic and shady, with one biking bridge over the highway to add a small challenge. Optional loops include riding through Anclote River Nature Park, Wall Springs Park and across the Intracoastal Waterway to Honeymoon Island and back. There are restrooms at the museum/train depot and at parks along the way.
