Here are the top 3 stories in Dunedin today:
- Expect road closures today, May 5, in Downtown Dunedin as the city celebrates Casa Tina's Cinco de Mayo celebration. Road closures will occur between 6 a.m. today and 7 a.m. tomorrow, May 6. During this time, Main Street will be closed from Broadway to Highland Avenue. Additionally, Douglas Avene will be closed from Scotland Street to Monroe Street, and Virginia Avenue will be closed from Main Street to Douglas Avenue. You can see a map of road closures here. (City of Dunedin via Facebook)
- The Warehouse Club of Dunedin is hosting a Spring Craft Fair on May 6 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Stop by to browse various artwork and crafts created by local artists. Vendors will set up booths both inside and outside. The Warehouse Club of Dunedin is located at 2024 Main St. (The Warehouse Club of Dunedin via Facebook)
- New York Times bestselling author of more than a dozen novels, Kristin Harmel, will be appearing at the Dunedin Public Library on June 29 between 6:30 and 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 and include access to the event, refreshments, and a copy of Harmel's new book, "The Paris Daughter." The novel takes place in 1939 Paris and is about "Young mothers Elise and Juliette become fast friends the day they meet in the beautiful Bois de Boulogne. Though there is a shadow of war creeping across Europe, neither woman suspects that their lives are about to irrevocably change." A book signing will follow the author's talk. - Roads will also be closed on May 6 in the downtown area for the annual Hog Hustle 5K. Starting at 5:30 a.m. Expect delays when driving around Beltrees Street, Douglas Avenue, Edgewater Drive, and Milwaukee Avenue throughout the duration of the race. You can find a map of road closures at the link. (Dunedin Gov)
- Pinellas County Government reminds locals that shorebird nesting season runs through the end of August. Help protect their nests by not walking near posted nesting signs, as getting too close to nests causes birds to fly away, leaving the nest exposed to predators and the sun. If you notice an injured shorebird or a fledgling outside of its nest, call Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission's Wildlife Alert hotline at 888-404-3922. (Pinellas County Government via Facebook)
- Did you know the Dunedin Public Library offers an array of CDs to check out? Library members can check out up to 25 CDs at once. (City of Dunedin via Facebook)
