DUNEDIN, FL — The addition of a new boardwalk on Fern Trail located within Hammock Park, 1900 San Mateo Drive, Dunedin, is underway and slated to be completed this fall.

Fern Trail, named for the dominate growth of native gigantic leather ferns and sword ferns, is a unique, quarter-mile trail that has been a public favorite and vital connector trail for decades. It is naturally a wet/moist area, especially so during the rainy season of June-September and has been known to be flooded for a majority of the year.

The Friends of the Hammock and the city of Dunedin are continuing the restoration efforts of Fern Trail, and the new, raised boardwalk will help protect the terrain and create safe passage for visitors year-round.
