Free Face Mask Distribution Locations In Pinellas County Announced

Cloth face masks will be available on a first come, first served basis starting Thursday.

June 24, 2020

Free face masks will be available for residents who need them to stay safe now that there is a countywide ordinance requiring face coverings. The ordinance, which took effect Wednesday at 5 p.m., requires all employees at public establishments and their customers to wear face coverings while indoors. It is part of the County’ efforts to slow a recent, rapid spike in COVID-19 cases in the community.

Pinellas County Ordinance 20-14 defines a face covering as a material that covers the nose and mouth and remains affixed or a face shield. A cloth face covering, or mask, may be factory-made or sewn by hand and can be improvised from clothing or other household fabric items. Citizens must wear a face covering while in most indoor public places within Pinellas County; however, there are several exceptions which can be found here.

The Board elected to adopt the emergency order by ordinance to allow it to be enforced as a non-criminal local ordinance violation. For more information about the ordinance and the county’s COVID-19 response, please visit the county COVID-19 Resource website.
