Miracle Baby's Dad Delivers Dying Woman's Last Words

Weeks after the accident that put his pregnant wife in coma, Angel Quiles witnessed a fatal motor scooter crash.

As 21-year-old Susie Stone lay in a ditch following a Thursday night accident, Angel Quiles stayed by her side, bearing witness to her final words.

“Tell my mom I’ll be OK, and give her a hug for me,” the Dunedin woman told Quiles as her life slipped away, ABC reported.

Quiles prayed with her and promised to deliver those words. That promise was kept Friday as an emotional Quiles met with the young woman’s parents.

Quiles is no stranger to tragedy. His wife, Jenny, was 33 weeks pregnant when she was struck by a tow truck as she was crossing a St. Petersburg street. Jenny Quiles lingered in a coma following the Oct. 15 wreck.

Quiles’ own story took a turn for the better in late October when his wife awakened. His 6-pound baby girl was delivered by C-section early, but healthy. Little Angel Noemi Quiles, or Emmi for short, has since gone home from the hospital. Her mother remains hospitalized, suffering from traumatic brain injury caused by the crash, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Fundraising efforts for the young family continue as ongoing care needs are anticipated for Jenny.

The accident that claimed Stone’s life occurred around 10:13 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Alternate 19 and Orange Street in Dunedin. Stone was riding a motorized scooter southbound when a Jeep Cherokee, driven by Taylor Roppolo, 24, made a left-hand turn onto Orange in front of the scooter.

Roppolo didn’t see Stone, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office traffic investigators indicated in an email to media. They say alcohol, drugs and reckless driving were not a factor in the case. No charges have been filed.

The young woman was thrown from her scooter following the collision. She landed in a ditch on the side of the road. That’s where Quiles found her.

Stone died at the scene, but she wasn’t alone.

Quiles cried when she took her last breath, ABC reported.
