Here are the top three stories today in Dunedin:

  1. A Pinellas County woman was shot in the eye during a TikTok "Orbeez Challenge." Jaime Pessina was walking along Gulfview Boulevard when she was struck in the eye by an Orbeez pellet. Jacob Canaynay and Joshua Sanchez, both 18 years old, were arrested following the incident. (WFLA)
  2. The fertilizer ban will begin for Dunedin residents next month. The ban is meant to prevent pollution and preserve the quality of local water. Residents can find products with a double zero on the fertilizer label to abide by the ban. Residents are also encouraged to replace some or all of their lawns with Florida-friendly plants found natively. (WTSP)
  3. An investigation has been opened by the Pinellas County Sherriff's Office's Major Accident Investigation Team into how a beachgoer was struck by a department SUV on May 4. The incident occurred on St. Pete Beach when Deputy Todd Brien struck a 23-year-old woman with his marked Chevrolet Tahoe while patrolling the beach. The victim was transported to the hospital after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. (Independent)
