Pinellas Sheriff's Corporal Charged With Drunk Driving

A corporal with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office found himself in jail and out of a job after being charged with driving a DUI.

DUNEDIN, FL – A corporal with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office found himself in jail and out of a job after being charged with driving under the influence.

According to the Pinellas Sheriff, 50-year-old Cpl. James R. Miller, 50, a 16-year member of the sheriff's office, was involved in a single-car crash in 1200 block of Bayshore Boulevard in Dunedin at 3 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. The car had crashed into a utility pole and tree. Miller was still inside.

Deputies said Miller's eyes were bloodshot, he was slurring his words and he reeked of alcohol.

Miller agreed to field sobriety tests and "performed poorly," deputies said. His blood alcohol level measured at .124, above the 0.08 limit for intoxication under Florida law.

He has been released from jail on $500 bail.
